Issue

When attempting to create a new Identity Provider under SAML Admin, having entered the required information, when ‘Save’ is clicked the UI displays:
"Error: Please enter a valid identity provider entity ID."The logs show:
INFO [http-nio-8084-exec-19][SamlAdminPortlet:77] Metadata XML is null for <user-defined entity ID>
Why does this error get thrown?

Resolution

When setting up (or editing) a provider, if the entity ID does not match that found in the metadata XML file, the above error is thrown. Please make sure that the entity ID for the provider matches that defined in the XML file.
