What statistics are available for Message Boards are available in Analytics Cloud?

Issue

  • We are about to launch an online community on our Liferay portal.

  • How far do Liferay Analytics go supporting community reports and analytics?

Environment

  • DXP 7.0+
  • Analytics Cloud

Resolution

  • Currently, metrics for the following Assets are reported in Analytics Cloud:
    • Blogs
    • Documents and Media
    • Forms
    • Web Content
  • Concentrated statistics for Message Boards are not available under Touchpoints > Assets out of the box.

Out of the box traffic

  • Message Boards traffic can be followed under Touchpoints > Sites > Pages.
  • Here you will see that each Message Board Category and Thread is listed as a separate Page. This will give you an understanding about the number of users per Category and Thread.
  • Please refer to our documentation on Pages to see what other statistics are available in this view.

Creating a Custom Event to track Message Board activity

  • Another solution would be to create a custom event and add its code to the same page where Message Boards widget is placed.
  • A custom event utilizes JavaScript, and with that you can easily follow different actions when users are interacting with your site.

If you would like to change this behavior

  • Open a Feature Request that will be evaluated by our Product Team. 
    • This is our official process that will allow our Product Team to assess the request.
    • You can add your personal touch to the product by writing down the details in the description.
    • Feel free to add further comments to discuss the remaining details with the team.
    • Please note that the implementation of feature requests is subject to our developers' decision, and the new feature can only be added to our future Liferay releases.
