RuntimeException is Thrown in the Log

Note: please note that Liferay has renamed its Liferay Experience Could offerings to Liferay SaaS (formerly LXC) and Liferay PaaS (formerly LXC-SM).

Issue

• The following error is thrown in the log after my latest deployment:
  

  java.lang.RuntimeException: Current portal schema version 26.4.0 requires a newer version of Liferay

Environment

• Liferay DXP 7.4
• Liferay PaaS

Resolution

• This error is related to the database. This frequently happens when a database has data from a higher Liferay version and you attempt to connect the same database to a lower Liferay version. In this scenario, Liferay was previously running with a higher version, however, for build-xyz, the Liferay version is lowered. Please make sure to use a higher Liferay version or the version that you used in your last successful deployment.
