Inputting Initial S3 Configuration Settings on DXP 7.0

This article serves as a reference for how to configure Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) to use Amazon Web Services S3.

DXP users can leverage Amazon S3 in two key areas; to serve as a file store repository, and to manage clustering. Regardless of which usage, there are three key pieces of required information to be aware of; Bucket Name, Access Key, and Secret Key. The focus of this article is to discuss the first use case, which is using S3 as a file store repository.

Administrators configure the settings from the Control Panel; there is no need to do it from the or in legacy versions.

To access the S3 Store Configuration:

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel → Configuration → System Settings.
  2. In the Search field, enter S3. (It's faster this way.)
  3. Click on S3 Store Configuration.
  4. Enter the following:
    1. Bucket Name: {your bucket name}
    2. Access Key: {your Access Key}
    3. Secret Key: {your secret key}
  5. Optional: If accessing through a proxy, enter the following:
    1. Proxy Username: {your proxy username}
    2. Proxy Password: {your proxy password}
  6. Click Save.

At this point, the platform has accepted the S3 Store settings. For system administrators planning to use S3 Store, they can then migrate the repository using the Data Migration feature from the Server Administration tab. Ensure that S3 Store is available as an option and be sure to follow the instructions available from this article: Document Repository Configuration.

We have other Knowledge Base articles that discuss clustering using S3, such as Liferay DXP Clustering and Managing Distributed Cache Within Liferay DXP. Please leverage these as needed.
