This article outlines a practical suggestion for how to change or delete settings in live, embedded portlets.
Liferay makes it possible to embed portlets in the layout template and in the theme. While changing portlet settings is very simple (just click the wrench!) for non-embedded portlets, changing preferences for embedded portlets requires a different set of steps.
To alter settings in an embedded portlet, you’ll need to write a script which allows the deleting or changing of the settings directly in the database. Note that this operation will be at the discretion of the administrator.
