Business Events enables you to track the major events of your project and communicate your support needs to Liferay.
Business Events can be found in the left navigation panel of a project details page on Customer Portal. Administrators and Requesters can create or edit business events, while any user listed in your project can view your business events.

Creating a Business Event
To start select the Create Event button in the top right-hand section of the Business Events page.
- When creating a business event you can select the type of event such as a go-live, upgrade, or other major event.
- Include details like your current version, target version, and the event date and time will provide additional context to Liferay.
- Continue creating by selecting any open support tickets in order to associate them with an event. Associating tickets with a business event will prioritize them from among the other open tickets in your project.
Viewing and Editing a Business Event
After a business event is created you can view the history or details and edit any aspect of the event by selecting the three vertical dots. If any newly created tickets are impacting your event, you can edit the event to associate them and communicate their priority to Liferay.
You can view the details of an event by selecting View Details. Once you are viewing the details, a record of the business event activity is listed under the Activity Details section where any added notes or comments can also be viewed.
Types of Business Events
Specifying the type of business event you are planning will help Liferay understand how to better support your project. The types of events available are
- Go Live - a specific date when the new implementation of a production site will be available to all of it's intended user base for the first time.
- Migration - a specific date by which the implementation of a specific Liferay project should be complete. A migration can include moving data, users, or content from one operating environment to another (EG moving from non-Liferay to Liferay or on-prem to cloud) or an existing Liferay implementation where an upgrade is not desired (EG a lower Liferay version to a higher Liferay version). A migration is not content migration from one environment to another where the Liferay versions are the same.
- Upgrade - a specific date by which the specified environment should be live on a higher version of Liferay than before by running the Liferay Upgrade Tool. This could be an environment specific upgrade (EG pre-prod upgrade or UAT upgrade) in preparation for a production upgrade or the production upgrade. Please specify the environment in the environment in the event title.
- Other - a specific date or deadline for any other important business events within your project.
Closing a Business Event
Once the event has occurred you can close the event by clicking on the three vertical dots to record the actual go-live. This allows you to give any additional feedback to Liferay concerning your business event. Closing a business event will not impact the status of any tickets associated with it.
Since major events have many moving parts, Liferay will email you a reminder about your open business event after the go-live date has passed prompting you to edit or close the business event.
