Many versions of Liferay Portal and Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) have an integration point with Xuggler for video preview generation. However, many unmitigated vulnerabilities are present within the Xuggler project. The Xuggler project is also deprecated. For this reason, Liferay does not recommend using Xuggler as an integrated technology.
Compatible Versions
Liferay DXP and Liferay Portal compatibility with Xuggler is only tested using the pre-compiled libraries provided by Xuggler. Subscription Services is not required to assist with integrating or configuring the product with Xuggler if the Xuggler pre-compiled libraries are not used.
Liferay DXP 7.3
Integration with Xuggler was officially deprecated in Liferay DXP 7.3 and will be replaced in a future version with an alternate set of features.
Liferay DXP 7.2 and Below
Integration with Xuggler is possible, but discouraged given the security vulnerabilities and lack of mitigation in the project.
Xuggler and Liferay Docker Images
There is a known issue which prevents installing the Xuggler library within the Liferay Docker image. For this reason, integrating Liferay DXP with Xugger while using a Liferay provided Docker image is not supported. Subscription Services will not assist with the integration and configuration of Xuggler to work with Liferay DXP if the instance of Liferay DXP is running within a container generated from the Liferay provided Docker image or if the image operating system does not contain at least version 6 of the GNU libc.
