Known Issues with Core-5

This article is a legacy article. It applies to previous versions of the Liferay product. While the article is no longer maintained, the information may still be applicable.

This article outlines a small set of issues that exist within the core-5 fix pack as well as their resolutions.

Resolution

"Long Text" display style in the Language portlet changed

Since Core-5, the "Long Text" display style in the Language portlet displays the country code with the language code (Deutsch (Deutschland)). Before this fix pack the portal only displayed the language (Deutsch). The old behavior can be reached by asking for a patch from our support team. The final fix would be included in the Core-6 fix pack later where the language + country link will have it's own display style option.

Note: This issue only exists if the language portlet has already been configured.

Plugin language keys fails to load

In some environments, the plugin language keys fails to load after installing Core-5 Fix Pack. Redeploying the problematic plugin will resolve the issue. This issue is known to exist in the WSRP portlet.

Uninstalling Social Office through Marketplace

Uninstalling Social Office through Marketplace will render Social Office sites' pages inaccessible.

Notice: Current SO 2.0.4 CE users planning to upgrade to 2.0.5 EE must FIRST download 2.0.5 CE. Upgrading directly from 2.0.4 CE to 2.0.5 EE will break Social Office.

Scheduled Jobs may not Work Correctly

With Core-5, Liferay's scheduler may not work in all instances. This has to do with an issue in how JSON strings are generated from messages. The issue is that under certain circumstances (NULL value in message being stored as TransientValue), the JSON string can not properly be deserialized.

To resolve this issue, simply open up a Help Center ticket and request a fix for LPS-29605. Note that a workaround may be possible by removing entries with a NULL message value or to add a no-argument constructor to TransientValue.
