Issue
- On Liferay Portal 6.2 EE, if one would like to make the title of a portlet non-visible, an easy way is to set an empty string ('') as title.
- Although, on DXP (7.0 and above) it is no longer possible, hence if the title is set with an empty value, the portal automatically replaces it with the original portlet title as default.
Environment
- Liferay DXP 7.0+
Resolution
- Indeed, the method on DXP has been changed by design. If the portlet title is desired to be set as non-visible, 'Barebone' (or custom) Portlet Decorator needs to be applied.
- Open DXP and sign in with administrator user
- Open Look and Feel Configuration of the particular portlet
- At General tab, set Application Decorators value as Barebone (or apply custom decorator if created for this purpose previously)
- Click Save
- The title of the portlet is no longer displayed
