View count on web content is not incrementing when web content is displayed on a display page

Issue

• I have followed the instructions described in Counter in Web Content Display remains at 0 after activating Enable View Count Increment to enable the view count increment for web content by performing the following from the control panel:

1. Enable View Count Increment in System Settings → Web Content → Web Content Display
2. Enable in System Settings → Infrastructure → View Count.

However, the view count for web content is not incrementing when displaying the content on a display page template.

• Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

• In order to increment the view count on web content displayed on a display page template, you should enable view count increment for the display page template. This can be achieved by going to System Settings --> Assets --> Display Page Template and checking the box for View Count Increment
