Rate Limiting with Nginx

Issue

• I would like to have guidance on how to Limit Rate of connections in Nginx. 

Environment

• Liferay DXP 7.2
• Liferay DXP 7.3
• Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

• Generally, in Liferay PaaS, there is a layer 4 DDOS protection, and you can use the webserver's WAF rules to filter out the requests. You can also purchase Google Cloud Armor protection (layer 7) with Liferay PaaS, which could help protect the site at a higher level.
• If you would like to add your own configuration to the default nginx file, you will need to override the default configuration file. The following links can be helpful: nginx-rate-limiting and rate-limiting-nginx

Please note that changing the default Nginx configuration falls under customization of the application which is not compatible with Liferay Support. If you require further assistance, we recommend contacting our Global Service (GS).
