Quarterly Releases are designed to prioritize stability, security, and the gradual introduction of product enhancements. See Liferay DXP Quarterly Release Process.
Within each Quarterly Release, Patch Releases (i.e., 2024.Q1.1, 2024.Q1.2, etc.) are issued to address stability concerns and mitigate vulnerabilities. A detailed definition of Patch Releases can be found at Liferay DXP Product Delivery Method > Patch Releases.
Due to their frequent release cadence, Patch Releases typically incorporate minor modifications between consecutive versions.
As a general recommendation, it is advisable to update to the most recent, stable, and supported version available.
