NullPointerException in Knowledge Base Search widget


  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. Start Liferay DXP 7.4
    2. Create a page and add a 'Knowledge Base Search' widget on the page.
    3. Input any keyword into the search bar and hit Search.
    Expected Behavior: Knowledge Base search must work properly and show the result.
    Actual Behavior: Knowledge Base Search is temporarily unavailable' showing on the page and NullPointerException in the logs.


  • Liferay DXP 7.4


  • The observed behavior is a known issue/bug. And, it is fixed in Liferay DXP 7.4 Update-32.
  • If a hotfix is required for this issue, please create a support ticket requesting a hotfix by attaching patch details.
  • Installing Fix Packs and Hotfixes on Liferay DXP will guide to installation of the hotfix in the respective environment.
